Visit to Laurier House, National Historic Site: Tour and Tea at the Veranda

VENUE: Laurier House

DATE & TIME: Sunday, July 30, 2006

Our visit to Laurier House was indeed a very pleasant one.  As we enjoyed our tea and delicacies on the beautiful veranda of this historic house, we had a chance to watch a short play presented by the Parks Canada Players.  The Heritage Theatre was entitled “The Streetcar and Mrs. King”. On the morning of D-Day, several servants discuss the lives of Sir Wilfred Laurier and William Lyon Mackenzie King while awaiting the news of the landing at Normandy.  Combining humor and drama, history came alive in this residence of two of Canada’s greatest prime ministers.
